Two KCPD vehicles collide on southbound 71 Highway in early morning accident

Police were called to a collision on southbound 71 Highway, close to Bannister Road, at 4:36 a.m. on Oct. 27.

The collision resulted in injuries and involved two vehicles from the Kansas City Police Department. According to the investigation, the police were initially called to another collision at the same location.

The police discovered an abandoned and damaged black Dodge Charger at the scene, prompting them to call for a City Tow to remove the vehicle.

While the police were waiting for the tow truck, a Ford Fusion collided with the rear of the KCPD Ford Explorer.

The crash propelled the Explorer forward, causing it to collide with the rear of another KCPD Ford Explorer. Consequently, the second KCPD Explorer collided with the Dodge Charger.

We are currently investigating the impairment.
