Kansas City man arrested for firing gunshots from 19th floor of building

A man from Kansas City, Missouri, has been apprehended and is now facing charges after reportedly firing multiple gunshots in various directions from the balcony of his 19th-floor apartment located in downtown Kansas City.

Court documents filed in support of the charges revealed that police were called to a high-rise apartment building at 600 Admiral Boulevard on Thursday, just after 2 p.m., in response to a reported disturbance involving an armed party.

A KCPD officer quickly responded to the scene and immediately spotted a man, later identified as Brent Bischof, who was armed with a long gun. It was on or near the 19th floor of the apartment building that the officer noticed Bischof. During his attempt to locate the apartment manager, the officer was startled by the sound of a round being fired from the long gun.

The manager informed the officer about a man who was firing shots from apartment 1906. Acting on this information, the officer proceeded to the 19th floor where he came across a man leaving one of the apartments. The officer conducted a frisk on the man, unaware at the time that he would later be identified as the suspect.

The officer was unable to match apartment 1906 to the unit that Bischof had exited as Bischof had already left the building.

The authorities later found Bischof in the vicinity and apprehended him.

During their investigation, the police found seven shell casings from two different weapons near the high-rise building. Additionally, they came across an unoccupied vehicle that had been hit by gunfire. The owner of the vehicle reported the recent damage and expressed a willingness to press charges against any potential suspects.

The Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has charged Bischof, 48, with one count of felony unlawful use of a weapon and felony armed criminal action on Friday.

Detectives obtained a search warrant to investigate Bischof’s apartment as part of their ongoing investigation.

According to court documents, detectives discovered a significant amount of evidence, including 12 firearms and hundreds of live rounds of ammunition.
